Blanke Permat Tile Underlayment 6.5 sq. ft. Single Sheet
Innovative uncoupling underlayment that offers all the labor-saving benefits of the old plastic roll systems. Blanke PERMAT also supports wood substrates, reducing deflection and providing greater compression and tensile strength than plastic roll products. The Blanke PERMAT is stable, can walk on during installation, and does not require additional curing time when installing porcelain with a latex-modified thin-set.

Instructions for Installing Permat
- The substrate must be clean, dry, flat, and load-bearing
- Trowel a more liquid than normal mix of thin-set mortar onto the substrate
- Lay the Blanke PERMAT panels in a row so that the mesh overhang on the two sides of a panel covers the seams of the sides of adjacent panels without the overhang
- Subsequent rows of panels should be placed so that the seams running perpendicular to the previous row are offset a minimum of 3" from the seams running in the same direction in the previous row
- Use the flat side of a trowel or a vinyl roller to press the panel into the thin set, ensuring that the fabric on the underside of the panel achieves complete contact with the thin set and that there are no air bubbles
- Use the flat side of the trowel to key inset into the voids on top of the Blanke PERMAT
- Set the tile using a notched trowel appropriate for the type of tile and traffic. (Read Blanke PERMAT Installation Instruction before installing this product)
- Movement joints are required in the tile surface per industry standards
Typical Applications
- Ideal alternative to backer board underlayment used in interior residential applications over wood substrates where excess deflection may be an issue and in commercial applications on concrete where stress cracks can be a problem
- Blanke PERMAT is ideally suited for new home construction where demanding installation schedules cause traffic to cross on the underlayment before tile installation
